February SGA Update

On February 16th, SGA held its first open meeting of the semester. SGA VP Jeff Kramer highlights the key takeaways.

On Thursday, February 16th, the first open Student Government Association meeting (SGA) was held in the Downbeat Cafe during Common Hour. In case you missed it, here are a few key takeaways from the session:

The Club Fair will take place on Thursday, February 23rd, during Common Hour in the Upbeat Cafe. It will be a wonderful opportunity for clubs and organizations to promote themselves and recruit new members. The theme is “hot chocolate,” and each table will have toppings for the hot chocolate.

Upcoming events were discussed, including SGA’s meeting with Five Towns President Dr. David Cohen on Friday, February 17th. SGA mentioned that the topics to be raised in that meeting included:

  • Better and healthier options in the Upbeat Cafe.
  • Improvements in cafe customer service.
  • A new location for Fader’s Fitness Center.

Current FTC clubs and organizations presented up-to-date reports on their official status and current activities.

SGA announced that it is seeking Senators for each academic department to represent their academic division and the best interests of their department.

At the end of the meeting, there was an open forum where students and members of the FTC community voiced concerns, compliments, and feedback about the campus environment. Everyone who attended could fill out a survey about issues they cared about on campus.

The next SGA Open meeting will be on Wednesday, March 8th, from 3:30-5 pm in the Downbeat.
