On Wednesday, April 24th, bingo and drag lovers alike gathered in the Downbeat for drag bingo put on by the FTC Rainbow Room. It was a night of prizes, pizza, and performances.

The club planned three rounds of opportunity for players to win prizes. The first round kicked off with the standard five in a row. In the second round, players had to get only the middle squares, and the entire board had to be filled in the final round.

Students competed for three exciting prize baskets; a snack basket, an art basket filled with crafting supplies such as a sketchbook and colored pencils, and the grand prize tech basket containing headphones, a speaker, and LED lights.

Mass Communications student Isabella Escobar won the coveted final basket. “I didn’t expect to win today, and I was like one number away.  I got so excited, and I was like oh my god I did it! And the headphones are really cute. The prizes are really really thought out and cute so I’m really glad I won something,” said Escobar.

Bingo wasn’t the only thing enticing students. Pizza was served after the first round and there were drag performances throughout the evening. Performers included Joe Milettie who goes by the stage name Blith, and Jonathan Richards who goes by the stage name Leonasia Chanel.

Rainbow Room President, Sage Hagelmann (stage name Pixel) performed and worked tirelessly to get the event up and running. “It was a bit stressful. We were originally gonna do it last semester, but it was so unorganized. So, we just pushed it back to this semester, but I’m really happy with the event. It turned out amazing. We got a good attendance, and it was really fun.”

The Rainbow Room meets every Thursday during Common Hour in room 206.
