Five Towns College’s Club Fair took place in the Upbeat Cafe on Tuesday, September 19th. This event takes place to help new and returning students learn about the different clubs on campus and allows them to sign up and try out something new. “Any opportunity to be involved, to be a part of FTC, beyond your academic major, or your degree program, or your classes are really housed here during this event,” said Assistant Dean of Campus Life Michael Cavalli.

The event started at 12:30 p.m. with some quick opening words from Student Activities Coordinator Natalie Allouche before the floodgates opened for students to explore the different stands. The club fair offered free ice cream for everyone. Then, people could visit each club table for toppings and a chance to learn about that club.

Many different clubs came out to the fair to promote themselves. Each stand was decked out with decorations displaying the spirit of their clubs. They were also extremely passionate about their work and weren’t afraid to discuss it. “We just wanna create opportunities for anybody who not only love sports but maybe just wanna get hands-on in the broadcasting world,” Aaron McLaughlin, Vice President of the Sports Broadcast Club, states, “and even if that’s not their career path, just to have some extracurricular fun, and learn about behind the scenes or even be an on-air talent.”

While plenty of clubs were in attendance, they weren’t the only ones with stands. Different offices on campus also made appearances, providing students with helpful opportunities to take advantage of while they attend Five Towns. “We have all kinds of community service opportunities for the students,” said Career Services Director Krysti O’Rourke. “As you know, they have to do eight hours of community service each semester here at Five Towns College, so you can get an opportunity that’s on campus or off campus, so we have listings for you.”

The Club Fair was highly successful this semester and put forward the immense passion the people at Five Towns College have for their clubs. From The Rainbow Room’s dedication to LGBTQIA+ advocacy, Comedy Sketch Club’s fun events, Radio Station’s opportunities for live radio shows, and plenty more, there’s sure to be a club for any student to enjoy.

Tre-Lawn Noel of the Student Government Association stated, “It’s really cool seeing the boost in numbers and the excitement that both incoming and existing FTC goers have in bringing liveliness back on campus.”
