The FTC Sound Stream debuted its first-ever Sound Stream Sessions on February 20th in the Gene Free Studio featuring 2024 Final S.T.A.G.E winner, Crystal Caravan. The folk-rock band consists of six members:

Sabrina Daysie, lead singer and rhythm guitarist
Gianna Rose, bassist
Victor Calcano, percussionist
Henry Bartoldus, cellist
Christian Dormier, keyboardist
Riley James Clare, lead guitarist, and backup vocalist

The band performed songs such as “Too Sensitive,” “Question,” and “Grim Reaper” live on the FTC Sound Stream. The event was also produced by Peter’s Intermediate Lab 4 class and live-streamed on the Mass Comm department’s YouTube page.

Take a look:

“It felt a little bit nerve-wracking, but it was fun. I feel like after we got into the tune of things, I was comfortable,” said lead vocalist Daysie.

FTC Technical Supervisor and Professor Michael Peters was the mastermind behind the idea for the Sound Stream Sessions.  “The idea behind Sound Stream Sessions was inspired by the NPR Tiny Desk concerts. I just thought there was such a great music environment on campus, and we have the radio station and Mass Comm students. I wanted to integrate the live music scene on campus and our Mass Comm students and come together to make a cool event for the whole community.”

Mass Communication sophomore Tyler McCready was part of the event’s technical production team. “It was fun seeing a sort of small crowd form outside [the radio studio], getting excited for the band. It was very cool hearing them perform; they did an amazing job. I was very happy to be a part of and contribute to the event in some way.”

The Sound Stream teased the possibility of future Sound Stream Sessions. Interested artists are encouraged to reach out to Professor Peters.
