By Grace Bonamico
Five Towns welcomes the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) today for a special concert series:
12:30-1:30 PM: Student Spotlight in the Upbeat Cafe
5-6:30 PM: Recital in the Performing Arts Center
The music events are an important part of the college’s Reaffirmation of Accreditation Eternal Site Visit being held from Sunday, April 6th through Wednesday, April 9th.
“It’s wonderful. We get to showcase the best talent of all of our students and it’s nice to see how many different varieties of music they perform and how passionate they are about what they do,” said Professor Kristi Adams.
Students are also excited about the day’s performances:
“It’s an honor and a privilege to perform for NASM. There are some really important people here and that fact I was called to play here today was a blessing and an honor. I am really excited. We are going to make some good music,” said Julia Rose, who is a member of the band, The Astral Party.
Pianist David LoNigro looks forward to performing Mozart’s 1st Movement in A Minor. “I love performing for everybody. As of late, I have been trying to kickstart my concert piano career. I love inspiring people.”
Victoria Gonzalez will be playing the clarinet in tonight’s concert. “It allows for me to show what I work on personally and allows me to perform for my fellow students. It’s a good opportunity.”
