‘The Blair Witch Project’ scares away midterm week at FTC
By Isabella Escobar
While midterms were stressful and slightly scary, students were able to unwind and embrace the spooky spirit of Halloween with a scary movie screening hosted in the Downbeat on Friday night.
Students were treated to a screening of the 1999 horror classic, “The Blair Witch Project.” Before settling into their seats for the movie, students snacked on popcorn and candy to add to the eerie atmosphere. As the found-footage film progressed, students found themselves on the edge of their seats from the movie’s suspense.
Liberal Arts major Claire Fiscella shared her excitement about watching the film for the first time. “I thought it was a fun way to end the week of midterms. It was really cool because it was my first time seeing this [movie], and it was definitely a cliffhanger at the end. It was really fun, and Jackson [RA and event host] was cool to have put this together.”
Mass Comms student and FTC Record Reporter Grace Bonamico noted the chilling nature of the film, which has hyped her enthusiasm for the approaching ghostly season. “Oh, this definitely gets me into the Halloween spirit. I thought it was fun. I’ve heard of ‘The Blair Witch Project’ before, but I’ve never actually seen it. It was interesting how it was filmed; I thought it was cool. I had a good time, and I’m happy I went!”
Students are encouraged to check their emails for future haunting events and campus activities and follow @FTC_EVENTS on Instagram for additional information.
