Students get cozy at FTC’s Pajama Party

Instead of dressing up in party attire, the mission was for FTC students to “dress comfy” for the Spring 2025 Weeks of Welcome (WOW) party. WOW party themes of the past, such as Fall 2025’s ‘Brat’ and Fall 2024’s ‘Barbie,’ encourage students to dress to the nines to match the highly decorated Downbeat. This semester’s theme was ‘Slumber Party,’ with attendees wearing pajamas to match the chill mood.

“We wanted the Slumber Party just to be laid back and cozy and not really do our traditional [party], where everyone dresses up. It’s a little more winded down for anyone who doesn’t want to dance but just wants to enjoy the vibes. We also decorated it pretty minimally, which made it feel like a bedroom, ” said Student Activities Coordinator Natalie Allouche.

The Downbeat was filled with students relaxing and having a good time before the full stress of the semester kicks in, giving them a chance to stay comfortable and hang out despite the winter weather. “I actually really like the theme because it’s really cold, and the last thing I want to do is dress up for a party. So I think wearing pajamas to a party is so convenient,” explained Mass Comm student Jordani Chacon.

Snacks and the traditional mocktails made by Assistant Dean for Campus Life Michael Cavalli were available. The pajama party’s specialty drinks were The Nightcap (black tea, maple simple syrup, orange zest, and orange wedges) and Sweet Dreams (pomegranate juice, orange juice, lime juice, and lemon wedges).

Dancing wasn’t the only thing available to partygoers; beads and string were available for attendees to make friendship bracelets, and students found it a fun addition to the theme. “I thought it was really cute. I feel like it’s just something fun, like a little pajama party-type activity. I made a bracelet with an inside joke that says ‘really seriously’ on it,” said Film and TV major Isabella Romeo.

FTC’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) has many more events planned for this semester. Students can stay updated on upcoming events through their FTC emails and @FTC_events on Instagram.
