FTC Mass Comm Reporters are on the ground at Shorefront Park in Patchogue, LI to bring you all the latest from the Great South Bay Music Festival.

8:00 PM Update

That’s a wrap for the Mass Comm Crew at the 2023 Great South Bay Music Festival.  This team of reporters will be busy editing and putting the finishing touches on their video and print stories so be sure to check back with the FTC Record Online for extended coverage. Great job, everyone!

7:30 PM Update

The crowd rocks to Jason Bonham playing the Led Zeppelin hit, “Over the Hills and Far Away.”  Bonham, son of original Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bohnam, could skillfully play the drums at age five.   He has won many awards for his original song, “Wait for You,” as well as a Grammy nomination for a tribute to Muddy Waters. His presence at the festival is a huge event for rock enthusiasts.

 

6:30 PM Update

The crowd moves toward the Voodoo Ranger Main Stage to hear Jason’s Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.

5:30 PM Update

We met a lot of FTC alumni at the Great South Bay Music Festival.  Joe Loschiavo, a 1987 FTC grad, gave us a demo of his Galaxy Electric Harp.

 

4:30 PM Update

Tauk opened up the Voodoo Ranger Main Stage today.  The four-piece progressive rock-fusion band is from Oyster Bay, New York and has toured with big names such as Umphrey’s McGee and The String Cheese Incident. The instrumental band set a cool vibe to this hot day.

 

3:15 PM Update

The merch for sale at the Great South Bay Music Festival is eclectic and colorful. Wormtown Trading Co. items come from Bali and are inspired by the combined vision of the husband and wife owners. Vendor Bryce Gundy said the most popular item sold during the four-day festival were the tapestries.

2:45 PM Update

Signs of Progress is the first band to play on the Five Towns College Stage today. Vocalist Sage Viscovi said, “It’s our first festival ever. We came along way to be here. We’re a Florida band so it was difficult to get up here but we are happy to be here. The atmosphere seems awesome. It’s seems really friendly.”

 

2:00 PM Update

The Great South Bay Music festival is a true community event and many of the sponsors, such as Island Federal Credit Union, who has served Long Island for sixty-eight years, are committed to supporting all Long Islanders.

“For every ticket purchased, we’re donating a meal to Long Island Cares to help feed Long Islanders who are food insecure,” said Island Federal’s Christopher Murray.

1:30 PM Update

On the final day of the Great South Bay Music Festival, Five Towns College is kicking off the day’s coverage on Instagram LIVE.
