Gluten-Free dining on the rise across Long Island
As celiac disease cases climb, local restaurants and bakeries are expanding safe, flavorful options for those who need them most.

According to the Celiac Disease Foundation, cases of the disease are growing by 7.5% annually. With cases rising and a growing trend toward adopting a gluten-free diet, there’s been a demand for restaurants to offer fully gluten-free dishes or be willing to make adjustments to existing menu items.
Long Island resident Sofia Lagana is one of many people managing celiac disease, diagnosed before many restaurants presented meal options safe enough for her to eat. Over the past few years, Lagana has noticed that many Long Island bakeries and diners have started rolling out safer and tastier gluten-free food choices.
