FTC Super Bowl LVI Watch Party

The Downbeat at Five Towns College was the place to enjoy Super Bowl LVI. Students gathered to eat food, interact, and watch one of the biggest events of the year.  This year’s matchup featured the Los Angeles Rams (16-5), taking on the Cincinnati Bengals (13-8).

Sierra Shepherd, an FTC sophomore Musical Theatre Major and RA, believed the event was important to students who dorm on campus and couldn’t make it home for the big game. “We know some students couldn’t be with their families for the big game, but we wanted to make it fun, so we are ordering Domino’s Pizza and have so many snacks.  We are doing our best to decorate and make it really nice to debate fun topics like who is going to win.”

Students boldly shared their opinions about who they thought would take home the Lombardi trophy.

Eric Sleavensky, a sophomore Business Administration major, was rooting for the team from The Blue-Chip City. “Give me the Cincinnati Bengals because I want to see them complete this awesome underdog story despite the game being in the Rams’ home territory.”

Patrick Depace, a sophomore Mass Communications student, thought that the Rams were just too good. “I’m very confident in the Rams’ lineup, and I feel they stand an incredible chance at winning the Super Bowl tonight.”

From the commercials to the halftime show, this event got everyone in the Downbeat excited.  The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show featured performers Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and a surprise appearance from 50 Cent.

Paul Allen, a first-year Mass Communications major, will remember the halftime performances for a long time.  “I thought the halftime show was great. It is without question in my top five halftime shows of all time, and right behind the performance from Bruno Mars from a couple of years ago.  All around great performances from everybody. I love Kendrick Lamar and Mary J Blige.”

Naasir Bradley, a junior ICG Major, also had  halftime show favorites. “The halftime show was amazing. I loved every second of it. Eminem and 50 Cent made appearances, and I love Snoop Dogg.  You can’t go wrong with Snoop Doggy Dogg.”

The Los Angeles Rams fans at the party were thrilled as the team beat the Cincinnati Bengals (23-20) after an exciting late fourth-quarter touchdown by Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp.
