First Resident Hall Association (RHA) meeting invites student involvement

The Residential Hall Association (RHA) held its first interest meeting of the semester on November 4th in Room 202, where residents of Five Towns shared their concerns, ideas, and suggestions for improving residential life within the dorms.
Anthony Huttie, Director of Residence Life, showed his support for reviving the Residential Hall Association, emphasizing the organization’s importance. “Essentially, we’re an organization that connects residents and with the College administration in regards to key issues that residents may experience while living on campus such as their satisfaction with the facilities, food service, and with the programs and initiatives we run. So we’re really trying to get this organization back up and running so that we can deliver these things for our residential community.”
Campus Resident Assistants (RAs) are a key part of making the residential experience run smoothly. “What we do is we assist residents with anything they need. We’re there for the students, bridging the gap between them and the staff. So it’s important for us to be there to be a helping hand,” said RA Marlin Carter.
The meeting focused on the importance of student involvement on campus, sparking discussions about upcoming events such as Winter Wonder Jam. Students shared ideas and suggestions for this year’s celebration.
Five Towns on-campus residents know how important it is to have a say in campus events. “If we’re running it [campus events] or designing it, it’s gonna be stuff that we like. I feel like events get a lot more attention when they have everyone’s input,” said Mass Comm major Olivia Collado.
Students who have questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding residential life are invited to visit Room 106B or contact the team via email at ftcresidentiallife@ftc.edu. Students are also encouraged to check their FTC email for information about future meetings.
