With Halloween creeping up, Harmony Hall RA Marlin Carter hosted an evening Halloween Hunt on Friday, October 25th, where students explored the exterior of the FTC campus to find holiday-themed objects. RA Marlin, a Mass Communications major, produced the event to encourage community. “The goal is to encourage teamwork and diversity. With social events, we get everyone to work together.”

Teams gathered in the Downbeat and were given a list of several cryptic clues to find hidden objects such as a witches hat or trick-or-treat basket. The darkness throughout the nighttime event added an extra layer of difficulty to the hunt as the already hidden items became more difficult to spot under the cover of night.

Despite the challenges, Vocal Performance major Alyssa Geraci had a good time, likening it to “the very obscure 80s movie called ‘Midnight Madness,’ where college kids split up into five teams and then go around Los Angeles looking for clues. I felt like I was living like a mini version of that [movie] but Halloween-themed.”

Small teams and some solo adventurers competed to be the first to collect three items and win a prized Jack-O-Lantern plushie. At the night’s end, Film & Television major Malakh Mezier won the prize. “I was really happy with the event. It was really good.”

With Halloween only a few days away, there are more Halloween-related events to get FTC students in the spooky spirit:

Wednesday, October 30th, from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am: Halloween Party in The Downbeat hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

Thursday, October 31st, from 7:00 pm to 9:0pm: Halloween movie night in The Downbeat.

Happy Haunting Five Towns!  👻👻👻
