Due to the weather delay, Nikki Silva took the stage with a short set that got the energy going at the Five Towns College Stage. Silva then quickly exited the stage so Big Happy could come on to perform. The crowd appreciated both groups, with people singing and dancing. The food vendor lines seem to be growing as the skies are now partly sunny. The Great South Bay Music Festival hosts vendors offering pizza, Greek, Japanese, Mexican, and desserts. Ralph’s Famous Italian Ice has a truck right near the Voodoo Ranger Main Stage, which is perfect for this humid day.
There are also options for guests who want to eat healthy. Concert goer Marie Cardoza said, “I’m happy that they have healthier food now in the festival. I would recommend trying the cucumber salad from Ko’ala Kreations.”

For dinner, I stopped by the Flaming Wok, a small business based out of Georgia, run by Cassidy, who is “helping out her family.” I tried their sweet-and-sour chicken with sweet-and-sour sauce, which was delicious.

After scrambling to cover all of the equipment after a second band of rain came blowing through, the FTC crew was happy to see this rainbow over the Main Stage. Nikki Silva up soon on the Five Towns College Stage.

Bunktown Falls just performed on the Five Towns College Stage after the weather delay. The band quickly attracted a large crowd with good vibes all around. The band’s lead singer encouraged the crowd to make noise. Audience connection is especially important to Bunktown Falls. According to their website, “their live shows are a high-energy affair, with the band members bouncing off each other’s energy and feeding off the crowd’s enthusiasm.”

Due to rain and thunderstorms, the Great South Music Festival is momentarily pausing. Venue security and Suffolk County PD evacuated all guests and vendors from the venue.

The Five Towns crew sprung into action to cover all of the equipment being used to produce the stage, radio, and video livestream. We are all headed to our cars and hope to be back soon.

With the opening of the Jambalaya Stage, a new area is available for festival goers. More vendors are setting up, including Citizens Campaign for the Environment, a nonprofit environmental activist group with petitions to improve the environment on Long Island. Volunteer Randy Acosta hopes to educate people on their mission, saying, “I feel like there will be a lot of people and I think it’s a nice experience. It’s good exposure and I think it’s fun to talk to people.”
3:00PM
Gates are officially open for Day 2 of the Great South Bay Music Festival. Guests are waiting on line as security performs checks for entrance into Shorefront Park. FTC Alum Kyle Seberg was spotted waiting on line. Seberg, who worked on the Five Towns College Stage when he was a student, said that he is very excited to hear the Marley Brothers, who will be performing on the Main Stage at 9:30PM.
2:30PM
The FTC Audio crew is preparing a soundcheck for the band Oogee Wawa, which will be performing tonight on the Five Towns College Stage at 8:55pm.
Five Towns Audio student Miles Katz reflected on Day 1 and talked about what he is expecting out of Day 2. “I think Day 1 was great. Everything went smoothly. I did front of house mixing yesterday. That was a cool experience to be able to mix on the fly, definitely something different than I’m used to. It’s not like the studio. Today we’re doing monor mixing, so a lot more hands on on the stage. Just interested to see how it goes. It’s reggae day.”
It’s going to be some good music, good vibes.”
