Halloween spirit erupted at Five Towns on Wednesday night with the annual FTC Halloween party. This year’s theme was ‘Beetlejuice,’ and the Downbeat’s black, white, and green decorations stuck to the movie’s color scheme.

Students dressed in creative costumes and danced to Halloween classics like Thriller and The Monster Mash, along with general party favorites Hot To Go and Mr. Brightside. “It [the music] definitely does get me in the Halloween spirit,” said Vocal major Kaleeb Barrett.

Recognizable costumes included Ghost Face, Beetlejuice, Deadpool, and much more, but one student had a unique costume. Mass Comm major Jeff Kramer dressed up as FTC’s Assistant Dean of Campus Life, Michael Cavalli. “This is my last FTC Halloween party, and I wanted to do something unique and different. I feel like I always wanted to dress as Cavalli at some point. Reactions have been priceless, and yeah, it’s been a lot of fun. Definitely a party to remember,” Kramer explained.

Students snacked on pigs in a blanket, mozzarella sticks, and heroes. Candy was also available, as well as two special drinks made by Cavalli, the Mischievous Demon (sparkling apple cider, fresh lemon juice, sour apple mix, and granny smith apples) and the Sandworm Slayer (lemon Seltzer, fresh lemon juice, and lavender syrup). Musical theater major Lily Boisvert enjoyed the spread. “I really like the food; the drinks that Mike [Cavalli] made were really good.”

At the night’s end, the best costume awards were given for solo, duo, and group categories. Sophia Burik won for her solo costume as Christine from The Phantom of the Opera, Yolanda Penfield and their costume partner as Fiona and Shrek, and Lily Boisvert and her friends as the characters from Winnie The Pooh.

The Halloween festivities continue today with a costume contest in the Upbeat as the FTC Sound Stream plays spooky music all day.

Happy Halloween Five Towns!
