ARTISTS BEING ARTISTS

The FTC Business Club presents an eclectic night of music in the Upbeat.

The Upbeat Cafe and campus vibe were electric on Thursday, February 9th, for the Artists Being Artists event hosted by Leah Chambers and the FTC Business Club. The event’s design promoted musical and artistic creativity and expression.

One of the performers, William Ramos, a Freshman Audio student, performed ‘Must be Me’ and described his inspiration for the song.  “It’s basically about how I know things happen. And it’s because of me, sometimes bad, sometimes good. I kind of turned that into a cool, psychedelic twist, I guess. My little award show twist.”

Artists Being Artists featured a variety of music styles, from rap to pop to even a French horn performance. Tiffany Ayala, a Music Performance major with a concentration in Business Marketing, enjoyed performing in front of her fellow students.

“Honestly, I love this experience. In order for me to perform, I give all the credit to Leah because she’s the one who put me in this performance, and you know it was very lovely. The crowd was crowding; they were clapping. You know I love to do this, and it’s an honor to perform here tonight. So, I’m very thankful.”

All the members of the FTC community who were in the Upbeat were entertained and inspired, including Upbeat Cafe staffer Kourtnee Gaddist. “Actually, this is very exciting for me. I’m so happy I came to work today. This makes me want to perform for you guys because I actually rap myself. I make my own beats and stuff like that, so it’s nice seeing all the diverse types of music in one room at one time.”
