Project Vibe brings all the vibes to the Great South Bay Music Festival
Project Vibe brought a smooth performance to the Great South Bay Music Festival at Shorefront Park in Patchogue, New York on Friday, July 26th. The Long Island-based group created an atmosphere for the festival crowd that felt personal and relatable. The band connected with the audience right off the bat, sharing their music with a wide range of listeners across generations.
Project Vibe performed a set that included songs from their album “I Am Music,” including audience favorite hits like “Can’t Stop” and “I am Music.” The band created a groovy performance that fit the summer festival environment really well. The members appeared extremely comfortable on stage and brought a lot of laid-back swagger and good energy to their performance, which they probably picked up over 22 years of making music together. The solos drew a lot of attention as well, with the lead guitar and piano stirring up the crowd at every chance. That being said, the musicians worked really well together, and their chemistry helped keep the performance engaging from beginning to end. The band also had a unique style, with long dreadlocks flowing down to their feet and beards fully grown out, fully embracing and showcasing their style and culture to the crowd with no holding back.
One of the most interesting parts of watching Project Vibe today was seeing how the audience responded to the band. Ed “Panama” Arguello, who was a prominent local DJ before turning to this style of music, immediately stole their attention with his radiating energy and special vocals, bringing in more and more audience members with each song. Perhaps his days as a DJ influenced his style, as DJs often incorporate many different instruments and sounds in their music. One of the most memorable moments was when Matthew Hansen, lead guitar, kicked off “Can’t Stop” with his unique riff that reached high and low frequencies with ease.Their performance felt relatable, even for the younger fans watching along, which has to do with their charming lyrics combining current topics and long-lived experiences for every fan to vibe along with.
The outdoor setting at Shorefront Park definitely added to the performance. The atmosphere and summer weather were very present, helping create an environment where Project Vibe’s style could connect with the audience easily, while everyone soaked up the rays and cool breeze together. The performance sounded great live, bringing more of an experience to the listeners than their usual streaming experience, with the solos feeling very special.
Overall, Project Vibe delivered an enjoyable and engaging performance at the Great South Bay Music Festival. Their connection with the audience and great vibes made the performance stand out. As experienced musicians reaching a wider audience with fresh new music, performing for this diverse crowd was not a problem at all.
Project Vibe displayed how music can create a sense of community for that short 40-minute set between the performers and the audience. Their performance was definitely a fun addition to the festival and showed the potential of this band as they continue to develop their sound and live presence.
